About us

Rooted in faith, growing with our community since 1979

Immanuel Lutheran College is the longest-established independent school on the Sunshine Coast — a place shaped by generations of families who wanted more for their children than results alone.

Our story

Four decades of learning in the Buderim rainforest

What began in 1979 as a small Lutheran primary school has grown into a thriving P–12 college of more than a thousand students, without losing the warmth that defined its earliest days.

Our 23-hectare site was deliberately kept green. Buildings sit among the trees rather than replacing them, and creek corridors, boardwalks and bush trails remain part of everyday school life. Generations of alumni describe the same thing: a school that felt like a community first.

Purpose & values

Expanding worlds — academically, personally and spiritually

Our purpose is simple: to help every young person discover who they are, what they are capable of, and how they can serve the world around them.

Christ-centred

Faith shapes how we teach, lead and care — offered openly, never imposed.

Community

Families, staff and students belong to something bigger than themselves.

Service

We look outward, using our gifts for the good of others, locally and globally.

Excellence

High expectations paired with the support to meet them, in and out of the classroom.

From the Principal

“Education here is about more than preparing students for exams. It is about preparing them for a life of purpose, courage and compassion.”

Our students learn in a setting that invites wonder, and in a community that expects kindness. We are proud of their academic achievements, but prouder still of the way they look after one another. If you are considering Immanuel for your family, please come and visit — the campus tells the story better than any brochure.
