Wellbeing TEAM

OUR CIRCLE OF CARE

Because every student deserves to feel connected and cared for

At Immanuel, every child is surrounded by people who see them, support them, and believe in their potential. Our Circle of Care is a whole-college commitment to student wellbeing: a strong, connected network of professionals who walk alongside students through every stage of their school journey.

From classroom moments to life’s big milestones, this team ensures that no child falls through the cracks. They support learning. They guide growth. And most of all, they show up — again and again, with care that’s consistent and real.

DIRECTORS OF WELLBEING & STUDENT ENGAGEMENT

Leading with care, connection and clarity

At Immanuel, wellbeing isn’t an add-on — it’s central to how we do school. Our Directors of Wellbeing and Student Engagement lead this focus from the front, ensuring that every student feels safe, supported and genuinely known.

They work across the College to shape a culture of connection — from big-picture strategy to the everyday moments that matter. Whether they’re supporting a student through a tough patch, checking in with families, or guiding staff, they make sure no one slips through the cracks — and every child gets what they need to feel settled, confident, and ready to grow.

LEARNING SUPPORT

Removing barriers. Rebuilding confidence.

Our Learning Enhancement Department (LED) is here to make sure every student can engage with learning — regardless of challenges. Whether a child needs short-term strategies or ongoing support, we work closely with families, teachers and students to develop plans that are personal, practical and built for growth.

Through targeted strategies and inclusive approaches, we help students move from “I can’t” to “I did.”

COLLEGE COUNSELLORS

Emotional support that listens, empowers and walks alongside

Our qualified and compassionate counsellors provide confidential, judgement-free support to help students manage emotions, build resilience, and navigate life’s tougher moments.

Whether it’s stress, friendship challenges or simply needing someone to talk to, our counsellors are here — with care that’s thoughtful, accessible, and always grounded in trust.

COLLEGE CHAPLAIN

Faith, comfort and connection — when students need it most

At Immanuel, faith isn’t something that’s reserved for special occasions — it’s part of the everyday rhythm of our school life. Our College Chaplain is a trusted presence across the campus, offering spiritual guidance, emotional support, and moments of stillness in a busy world.

Whether it’s through classroom devotions, reflective conversations, prayer or simply being a calm, caring listener, our Chaplain reminds students they are never alone.

Grounded in the values of Lutheran Education — grace, love, service and hope — the Chaplaincy space is a place of welcome for all. Here, students of all backgrounds are encouraged to explore faith, ask big questions, and experience the comfort of being truly known and valued.

YOUTH WORKER SUPPORT

A steady presence and a safe place to land

Our Youth Worker is a constant across both Primary and Secondary — someone students recognise, trust, and can turn to in any moment, big or small. From a chat on the oval to a quiet conversation after class, they’re there to listen, check in, and remind students they’re never on their own.

With a professional background in youth support, including experience working with vulnerable young people and complex situations, our Youth Worker brings a calm, grounded approach that students respond to. They understand the challenges young people face — and how to meet those challenges with empathy, encouragement and care.

Whether it’s a moment of support, a shared laugh, or simply being available when it matters, they help students feel seen, heard, and anchored in community.

HOUSE LEADERS

Belonging, mentoring and support that lasts the whole journey

Belonging at Immanuel starts early — and it starts with our House system. From Prep to Year 12, every student is part of a House community that celebrates connection, care and team spirit.

In Secondary School, our House Leaders are experienced teachers who have chosen to take on this role — not just as educators, but as trusted mentors and advocates. They lead vertical homerooms, check in regularly, and build relationships that matter — with students and their families.

This structure creates a sense of continuity and connection across year levels — and a deep feeling of being seen, known, and supported every step of the way.

SOMETIMES SUPPORT LOOKS LIKE A WAGGING TAIL

MEET LUCY, OUR SUPPORT DOG

Lucy, our support dog, is a loved and important part of life at Immanuel. Whether she’s joining in on reading time, providing calm during high-pressure moments, or just offering a gentle nudge and a listening ear (or ear scratch), Lucy helps bring comfort, joy, and calm to students of all ages.

She’s not just a school dog.

She’s part of the team.

MT BINGA MENTORS

Guiding growth, beyond the classroom

At our dedicated outdoor education campus, Mt Binga, students are supported by a team of experienced leaders who specialise in more than just adventure — they specialise in personal growth.

Our Mt Binga facilitators walk alongside students through challenge, reflection and self-discovery, creating an experience that’s safe, empowering and unforgettable. Whether around the campfire, on the trail or during quiet moments, they model resilience, trust, and what it means to grow through experience.
