Through the Million Metres for Melanoma initiative, Joel and his team have broken two world records and raised nearly half a million dollars, proving that Immanuel graduates go above and beyond in pursuit of making a difference.

Antarctic Pioneer

Chad Carey: Engineering Dreams and Rescuing Lives

Chad Carey (Class of 1994) turned his engineering background into a thrilling adventure, founding Chimu Adventures – Australia’s largest Antarctica tour company. His innovative spirit led to the world’s first scenic flight to the South Pole. But Chad’s true character shone during the COVID-19 crisis when he orchestrated the rescue of 260 stranded Australians from South America, demonstrating how Immanuel’s values of compassion and problem-solving can change lives on a global scale.

Olympic Heights

Alana Boyd: Soaring to New Heights

Alana Boyd (Class of 2001) has taken the Immanuel spirit of reaching for the stars quite literally. As Australia’s national pole vault record holder, Alana’s impressive track record includes two Commonwealth gold medals and three Olympic Games appearances. Now, as an official Sunshine Coast 2032 Taskforce Ambassador, Alana continues to inspire the next generation of Immanuel students, embodying the perseverance and excellence we foster.

Dual Champion

Dr Melanie Wright Oam: From Olympic Pools to Operating Rooms

Dr Melanie Wright (née Schlanger, Class of 2003) proves that Immanuel graduates excel in multiple arenas. A dual Olympic gold medallist in swimming, Melanie transitioned from breaking world records in the pool to saving lives as a doctor. Her journey from the podium to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital showcases the versatility and determination instilled in our students, inspiring them to pursue excellence in every field.
